There is a wideness in God’s mercy
Just like the wideness of the ocean;
There is a kindness in God’s justice
Which is greater than liberty.
There’s plentiful redemption
Within the blood that has been shed;
There’s pleasure for all of the members
Within the sorrows of the Head.
For the love of God is broader
Than the measures of our thoughts;
And the guts of the Everlasting
Is most splendidly type.
If our love have been however extra easy
We should always take him at his phrase,
And our lives can be illumined
By the presence of our Lord.
Troubled souls, why will you scatter
Like a crowd of frightened sheep?
Silly hearts! why will you wander
From a love so true and deep?
There’s welcome for the sinner
And extra graces for the great;
There’s mercy with the Savior,
There’s therapeutic in his blood.
